# 1101 is Competing in the Sheffield Krazy Races
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a team of IT people step away from their desks and attempt to build a soapbox race kart… you’re about to find out.
On 21st June, we’ll be taking part in Sheffield Krazy Races to raise funds for [Roundabout](https://www.roundabouthomeless.org/), a South Yorkshire charity supporting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Every entry fee, sponsorship, and donation goes towards helping provide accommodation, life skills, and long-term support to people who need it most.
We’ve got a team of 12 volunteers from across 1101 getting involved by giving up their time to design, build, and race our kart.
And just to make life harder for ourselves, we’re not building something simple. We’re building a giant computer mouse!
None of us are mechanics. We spend our days working on systems, processes, and helping businesses run better. So, this is well outside our comfort zone.
We wouldn’t be able to do this without the businesses supporting us along the way. A big thank you to our current team sponsors:
- [Apex Pumps](https://www.apexpumps.com/?utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_pTI1VrvFcMGjYHRZp-8lDA5da9CwdHg9pUrnTHbOhNUAxVeYjrzgFUjtox0dzQWrvCTwH)
- [Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson](https://www.hcd.co.uk/)
- [UHY Hacker Young](https://www.uhy-uk.com/location/sheffield)
- Safety Fabrications
- [Hy-Ram Engineering](https://www.hy-ram.co.uk/)
Along with contributions from clients, bake sales, and donations, they’ve helped us hit over £1,000 already. If you would like to donate, please do so [here](https://www.justgiving.com/page/1101-backup-heroes?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL).
Between now and race day, we’ll be sharing:
- Build progress (the good and the not-so-good)
- Behind-the-scenes from the team
- Fundraising updates
- And whether this thing actually makes it to the finish line
If you’d like to support the team and Roundabout, every donation makes a difference.
And if nothing else, keep an eye out for a giant mouse racing through Sheffield city centre…
